Roosevelt PTA Newsletter Header

Here’s what’s going on this week:

Monday 3/11: Harvest of the Month. We are looking for 2 volunteers to hand out samples to the students during lunch. This month will feature a grain salad made with cracked farro from Bluebird Grain Farms based in the Methow Valley. Please reply to this email if you are available/interested.

Tuesday 3/12: PTA Meeting. Join us at 7pm, free childcare for students provided, as we hear what’s new and what’s coming. We will also be joined by a special guest, Director of the Boys and Girl’s Club who will be sharing about their upcoming Summer Programs. If you’ve never been or you haven’t ever missed a meeting, we hope to see you!

Thursday 3/14: The Lion and the Mouse. 8:30 am and 7:00 pm performances. If you are able, please plan on attending the morning performance to make room in the evening for those who can’t attend during the day.

Friday 3/15: Class picture day.

Current Needs:

  • We are in need of an Enrichment Officer to join our team for this Spring and then to carry on for next year. Enrichment officers plan and create the after-school-clubs we all love. They connect with parents and instructors alike, accept payments, send home flyers, etc…If this is something you may be interested in, please let us know!

Friendly Reminders:

The drop-off area is meant to have a steady flow of traffic throughout the round-about. Otherwise it can lead to traffic back-ups that block our neighbor’s driveways and their access to cross streets. If you find yourself not remaining in your car, having a student who isn’t able to exit the car without assistance and/or they aren’t getting out on the passenger side of the car, or you are needing a little extra time to say goodbye, please note that the drop-off may not be the best option for you. If you find yourself needing just a little more time then the drop-off allows for, please utilize the parking lot. Thank you!

If you have wanted to get more involved at Roosevelt, but aren’t sure what is available- here are a few places to start:

  • Check with your child’s classroom teacher and see if there is a need in the class. That can sometimes look like reading with kids, helping with math facts, making copies, or doing an art project
  • Volunteer to bring items to Family Fun Nights or Staff Appreciation Day (that is always a need yet it doesn’t require you to be at the school during the day.)
  • Spend some time in the cafeteria during lunch time. Be a buddy. Help open containers. Just be a friendly face.
  • Go to a recess. Come for just one or stay for all. Be a buddy. Play a game. Watch kids on the bars (they love that) Throw a football or join a soccer game.

If any of these sound like a good place to start, please just make sure you have completed your Bellingham Schools Volunteer Application . Whether you are a parent/caregiver/grandparent we just really want you to know that you are welcome! That there is a place for you, and having you be involved at Roosevelt is one of the things that makes it such a special place.
