Our School's History

Roosevelt's History
The Eureka Grade School was located between Alabama and Texas streets at Woburn Street and was built in 1902. The building was enlarged in 1907. In 1927-28, the name of the school was changed to Roosevelt to honor former president Theodore Roosevelt. A newer Roosevelt school was built in 1972 at its present location, 2900 Yew Street. Our school mascot, the Roosevelt bear, reflects the love of the outdoors and wildlife that president "Teddy" Roosevelt enjoyed during his lifetime.
