We share a common goal of providing the best education for students leading to a partnership between home and school. Parents make a variety of contributions to gifted education. NAGC National Association for Gifted Children is a non-profit organization of parents, teachers, educators, community leaders and other professionals who unite to address the unique needs of all children and youth with demonstrated gifts and talents as well as those who may be able to develop their potential with appropriate educational experiences.
NRCGT National Research Center on the Gifted and Talentedis a collaborative effort of the University of Connecticut, City University of New York/City College, Stanford University, University of Virginia, Yale University and others.
AAGC American Association for Gifted Children publishes information for parents, educators and the public. Publications located on the web site include an occasional series called Working Papers and information on research-based educational practices, including the Javits Research Project, Bright IDEA 2 funded by the US Department of Education to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in collaboration with AAGC.
WAETAG Washington Association of Educators of Talented and Gifted offers a valuable website for teachers, students, and parents with useful links to other related sites. WAETAG will strive to improve and support education of gifted and talented persons by sponsoring and fostering activities significant to the education of gifted/talented persons. The WAETAG site also includes their newsletter and professional development opportunities.
The Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University The Center for Talented Youth (CTY) is a comprehensive, university-based initiative that promotes the academic ability of children and youth throughout the world. CTY Talent Searches identify, assess, and recognize students with exceptional mathematical and/or verbal reasoning abilities. Students qualify for participation in the Talent Searches by scoring at or above the 97th percentile on a nationally normed, standardized aptitude or achievement test. The CTY site offers detailed information about the Talent Search PLUS test, along with many other resources for Gifted & Talented Students.
